It All Begins with an idea…

Every great creation, every passion project, and every dream-turned-reality starts the same way

— with an idea.

For me, that idea was born from my love for all things gothic, spooky, and timelessly eerie. I’ve always been drawn to antiques and vintage pieces and the stories the hold. Whether it was an ornate frame, an eerie photograph or forgotten relic that looked like it belonged in a Victorian haunted manor, I saw magic in the aesthetics that others my overlook.

As soon as I turned 18, antique shopping and thrifting became an obsession. I wanted to create a home that reflected the world I had always longed to be in but never got to experience growing up. I’d collect pieces with the intention of flipping them into something beautiful, but life got in the way, and those projects often went unfinished. That was the only downside— so many of these forgotten objects just needed a little care but finding the time and resources to restore them wasn’t always easy.

For a LONG time, I didn’t have the money or freedom to create the way I do now. I settled for mass-produced Halloween decor, but it was always lacking— cheaply made, overpriced, or just not quite right. After COVID, quality dipped even further while prices skyrocketed. Frustrated, I started making my own pieces, and once I finished decorating my own space, I realized i wanted to do more. I didn’t just want to paint things black— I wanted to craft gothic and spooky art for others with different aesthetics and visions.

I had never seen myself doing anything but creating and one day owning a small shop. The idea of turning my passion into something real was thrilling, freeing— but also daunting. I wanted to create a space where others who loved the darkly elegant could find unique, handcrafted pieces without the stress of unfinished projects, lack of time, or the fear of “not being creative enough”. It also broke my heart to see beautiful, broken antiques tossed aside because no one could see their potential. Thats where I come in.

This is how Macabre Mystiques & Antiques was born.

It started as a small spark—and a deep loathing for working for anyone but myself. I made Pinterest vision boards, toyed with ideas, and questioned if this was just another fleeting obsession or something real. But the more I created, the more I realized this wasn’t just a business—It was an extension of me, a way to bring my vision to life and connect with others who share the same love for the mysterious and macabre.

Starting something new is always intimidating. The doubts creep in, and the “what-if’s” try to hold you back. But if I’ve learned anything, it’s that you have to nurture your ideas, give them space to grow, and trust yourself enough to see where they lead.

Macabre Mystiques & Antiques is still evolving, just like an idea in motion. But it’s here, it’s real, and it all began with a single thought— a whisper of inspiration that refused to be ignored.

If you’re reading this and sitting on an idea of your own, I encourage you to explore it. Let it take shape. Give it life. because every great creation, no matter how big or small, starts the same way.

With an idea.
